grrrranger

I’ve been thinking and talking about blogging a lot lately. I wrote about my blogging process recently, and it wasn’t the first time I posted about blogging. Whether you’re a blogger or a reader, you may have noticed an increase in posts about blogging too. It almost seems silly. But it only makes sense that bloggers would blog about blogging (ha!) because their (our) online lives are important too us.

What I love about having a blog is that it’s a creative outlet in which I can both express  myself and refine my writing skills. I could do this by just writing in a spiral bound notebook. But the good thing about this modern notebook is that I have the critique and counsel of others. Blogging fosters community, which I love. Through blogging and reading blogs, I’ve had the chance to virtually meet inspiring, creative women around the world.

This month, I’ve been proud to sponsor the blog Jaybird, written by the lovely Alicia. I was already a fan of hers before I started sponsoring and have shared a post or two from Jaybird before, but once I became a sponsor, I started following along extra close. And I’m glad!

Alicia is a smart, funny, thoughtful 20-something living in the beautiful big city of Chicago. She shares funny advice, healthy recipes (such as this one) and has been known to share very on trend thoughts on succulents. Her writing comes across natural and honest, like talking to a good friend. For some incredibly helpful advice, read her Love Your Body Resolution series.

Sadly, Alicia won’t be taking sponsors in the near future. But I encourage you to follow along with her blog.

This post “Sometimes this blog is silent” captures some more of my recent thoughts on blogging. Oh Joy! has an interesting first-hand perspective on the changing business of blogs. Also, congratulations to Monique for speaking at her first blogger conference. I wish I could have gone.

I’m loving these 4 tips to help millennials to find meaningful work. Since graduating, I have been hearing about networking nonstop. Apparently, networking doesn’t have to be weird. Here’s how to cold email a complete stranger and networking for introverts.

Speaking of networking, you should totally go to the Girl in Tech LA Summer Sip Mixer, especially if you’re a girl in LA. It should be a fun & inspiring night in Santa Monica.

P.S. I’ll be back tomorrow with a movie review.

My sister had a baby this week and I’ve had the chance to see him grow up every few days. It’s truly amazing how fast little babies grow. He looks less like he did in these photos and more like he does in this selfie. So much hair for a little baby! He’s also got blue eyes and we’re kind of hoping they will stay that way. Brown, green or hazel would be fine too of course, but dark hair with blue eyes would be sweet.

Things have been super quiet on the blog lately. Sorry about that. I’ve been getting my computer fixed this week and I’m hoping to pick it up soon. It’s actually been broken since last year and I’ve been using my sister’s laptop when she doesn’t need it. I’ve got some exciting things planned for the next few weeks, though!

Happy weekend and happy links I love.

DTLA bookstore

I can’t believe it’s already almost July! Anyone else feel like this month went by super fast? Not like that’s necessarily a bad thing. I’ve had some fun being unemployed, but I also keep thinking about how I need to step up my writing, blogging and applying to places game.

In the past week, I managed to go to Knott’s Berry Farm, go on a (super exciting) job interview, visit an old internship, get lost in Santa Monica, have dinner with my boyfriend twice, get my nails done, lock myself out of my house (accidentally), hang out with my bestie and go to a tea parlor with family. Whew! I don’t know about you but that’s not what a week normally looks like for me. I think I actually left my house every day, which like never happens. I even wandered around The Last Bookstore in LA, which is where I took the above photo.

So, since I haven’t shared links in a few weeks I’ve got a bit of a stockpile going and didn’t want to sell you short. Have at it!

Glorious, inspiring and thought provoking links!

Max with his toy

I hope you all are having a nice, relaxing weekend. It’s always good to take a break and spend time with family and friends. To be honest, today I’m feeling a little anxious because I have to write my last college paper so that I can graduate. I can be such a bad procrastinator. After posting this, I should really finish writing the paper so I can spend the rest of Memorial Day Weekend relaxing and cuddling with my loves, including my dog Max who is in the above photo

No matter what your plans are, I hope you make them fun. . Listen to me when I tell you it’s better not to drag work through the weekend. Now, on with the links, browsing and chill out!

Welcome to the weekend! I hope you all are enjoying it, whether you have a set weekday schedule or not.

May has arrived and with it, we are getting closer and closer to summer. I’m loving each hot day in sunny California, while hoping it doesn’t go past 90 degree temps too soon. Whatever the whether where you live, I hope you get a chance to enjoy the great outdoors, have fun and spend some time in reflection. That’s what my weekends look like.

Be proud

Happy Sunday! I hope you all are having a great weekend and that this was good for you too.

I’ve been fighting a cold and keeping busy. My brother was visiting from Tennesse the past few days, so we had a lot of family time. That’s always nice. We had a family party last night to celebrate my aunt’s birthday, complete with my mom’s famous tacos and Grandma’s peanut butter pie. Now I’m just sitting on the couch with a big warm blanket and a hot cup of tea, getting ready for a day of job applications and cleaning.

Whatever you’ve been up to this week, I hope you can find time to slow down before the start of another one. Enjoy the encouraging, inspiring and cute things I have conjured up in this here blog post.

Encouragement

Do you hate Mondays? Yeah, I mean everyone does, right? Well, Monique Muro brings up some really good points about why you should just give up that negative thinking. This video totally changed my perspective.

You are enough

Cassie of Witty Title Here really drives home the point that you are enough. Did you hear that? You are enough.

What’s Better Than Doing It All

It’s impossible to do it all. We all know that. But I still feel myself trying and getting way too overwhelmed. Alicia of Jaybird and four of her blogger friends have more on that.

I made a Tumblr dedicated to bunnies. There are already some other ones out there, but this is mine. Yeah, I’m ridiculous. It’s kind of a collaboration between Paul and I. He’s always sending me bunnies to reblog.

Hey you guys! Just stopping by to share some links I loved this week! No need for an explanation, I assume. Please excuse the quick post. I’m off to a 21st birthday party soon and need to get a move on.

I just have to share this feature on Norel Mancuso, the #GirlBoss at Social House Inc. I’m doing an internship at Social House and I can vouch that Norel is as cool as this makes her sound.

Speaking of bosses, what’s your take on the #BanBossy campaign? There’s been a lot of discussion on that lately. This post makes the most sense to me.

It’s impossible to do it all and those who do usually have help. Thanks for the much needed reminder, Angela.

Thank God I’m not the only one who thinks these things! Are you socially awkward too? Read this.

I could definitely relate to this post on All Things E about making friends as an adult.

I like this look of Mel’s music festival essentials over on The Nectar Collective. Very colorful!

Spring cleaning, y’all! This checklist on Lauren Conrad makes it slightly more bearable.

I hope you all are having a great week! Let me know what is making your weekend amazing in the comments below. As for myself, I’m happy about the haircut I got this morning, the party I’m going to later, and the double date I’ve got planned for tomorrow. It’s a busy weekend! I’ve also got a Q&A with an awesome lady going up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by for that.
