I’m on Etsy as Modern Notebook Press

Hey there! You can now find my digital download printable business on Etsy under the name Modern Notebook Press. The focus is on fun, quick games for kids such as Bingo and scavenger hunts, coloring pages, and stationary pages. There isn’t much posted yet, but I’m working on it. It’s inspired by my life as a mother as well as my work in early childhood education.

So, I haven’t posted on this here blog in ages. Last time I posted it was December 2020. My daughter had just turned two years old. It was pandemic times. My husband had a different job. I hadn’t yet worked since my girl was born.

What’s changed? The world has changed, my family has grown but I’m still the same me with a bit of maturity, more wrinkles and such. My daughter turned 5 last month. I have a 9 month old son. I have been married for 6 years now. I have been working for my local school district in slightly different positions, from classified substitute to part-time permanent employee and now certificated substitute teacher for the past couple of years.

I have mentioned this blog to people and thought about posting again at least once a week. Sometimes I feel silly for still wanting to. But what can I say? I’m from the chronically online generation. I grew up with Livejournal, then Myspace and on to Facebook. I love to write, even when I feel like I can’t call myself a writer any more because it’s been so long.

I’m still here on the Internet serving content for fun. I’ve never been that consistent. I’ve never made (much) money from it. But I enjoy having a blog, posting to Instagram and having some sort of online store. This is my first time having an Etsy shop, but I’ve had online stores before in the form of Poshmark and Mercari re-sale stores. I’m learning that I should do what I want, not try to impress people, but go for my hobbies or even money-making ventures. For instance, I would love to get back to freelancing, which I started to do after college and wish I never stopped. At the time, I felt like I had to have something full-time but now I’m wishing for the flexibility and creativity that freelancing allows again.

Let’s go after what we want. The past is past. It can inform our future, but doesn’t need to. define us.

P.S. I can not think “The past is past” without also thinking of Descendant’s “Rotten to the Core:” “The past is past / Forgive, forget / The truth is / You ain’t seen nothing yet.”

I would love to hear what you have to say. Leave me a comment and I’ll try to write back soon.
