Whether you have a cold or a stomach ache, this orange lemon tonic could help cure what ails you.
This drink reminds me of this one orange powder drink packed with fiber. But I much prefer my version! No powder. Great flavor.
Orange Lemon Tonic
2 oz orange juice
2 oz lemonade
4 oz water*
1 tablespoon pre-soaked chia seeds**
Measure and combine everything into a glass. No need for a blender. But if you add in the chia seeds, I recommend stirring often as they do tend to sink to the bottom of the cup.
*Ginger beer or sparkling water would also work well. I’ve found either helps when I have a stomach ache. Hydration is super important, guys. If I have a headache or stomach ache, I’ll drink two big glasses of water and see if that helps. It usually does.
** How to soak chia seeds
Soak chia seeds in at least three times it’s volume. Or something like that. I’m no expert. I found this Bon Appetit article on how to eat chia seeds to be helpful.
Here’s my recipe for soaking a batch of chia seeds that lasts me a whole week: Soak 1/4 cup of dry chia seeds in 1 cup of water. Store in the fridge for a week at a time. I’m not sure if chia seeds soaked in water need to be kept cold, but I put them in the refrigerator just to be safe.
I’ll add in a tablespoon or two of chia seeds to a glass filled with about 12 ounces of water and drink that first thing in the morning.
